PhD Opportunity in Chemical Engineering at Michigan Technological University (MTU)
PHD Admission: PhD Dr. Maria Gencoglu's research group, in the Department of Chemical Engineering Technology at Michigan Technological University (MTU), is seeking applications for a Ph.D. position, starting in Spring 2025. The research will focus on biomaterial-based platforms for cancer tissue engineering.
Maria Gencoglu's Information:
Maria Gencoglu received her B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Los Andes, in 2009, and her Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from MTU in 2014. After graduation, she joined UMass Amherst, and she worked as a postdoc from 2015-2018. She was an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Bioengineering Department at University of the Pacific from 2020-2021.
She joined the Clinical Diagnostics Group in Bio-Rad Laboratories from 2021-2024, where she worked on developing molecular diagnostics products using PCR technologies. Dr. Maria Gencoglu began her tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor at MTU in August 2024. Her research interests include cancer tissue engineering, scaffold-based disease modeling, molecular mechanisms of diseases, and 3D organoids and spheroids models.
Candidate Application:
Motivated candidates with Bachelor's or Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Bioengineering are encouraged to apply. Candidates with experience in the previously mentioned areas are preferred.
