PhD Admission: The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy, has opened applications for its Ph.D. program in Economics. This year, there are four grants available, with the possibility of at least two more positions being added before the program begins. The application deadline is May 7th, 2024, at 12:00 (CEST). Duration: 4 years

Academic Objectives: The primary aim of the program is to train top-level scholars and researchers in the field of economics.

Available Positions: no. 4 positions with scholarship, as follows:

no. 3 funded by Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna; no. 1 funded by Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna under the L'EMbeDS Project; Further positions may be made available before the start of the program, depending on external funding.

Please note: All mandatory documents must be attached; failure to comply will result in exclusion from the competition.

Optional documents:

Applicants are strongly advised to request reference letters from at least two academic scholars (e.g., MSc thesis advisor) or other experts who had the opportunity to assess the applicants' work during their academic studies.

Applicants should add each referee's name, surname, and institutional e-mail address in the online application form so that each referee will receive a link to upload their reference letters within three days after the application deadline.

The reference letter should provide a clear assessment of the candidate's expertise and skills, their potential for doing research, scientific maturity, and interests, possibly in comparative terms with other students attending a Ph.D.

Course in Economics known by the referees over the last five years. The letter should also indicate the applicant's knowledge of the English language and general attitude to undertake a Ph.D. Course.

Publications and any other documentation that may contribute to providing an assessment of the candidate's skills and attitudes. Assessment of qualifications - maximum score: 70

The Selection Committee will assess the Curriculum Vitae et Studiorum and any relevant qualification submitted.
