This group is dedicated to leveraging the power of machine learning and artificial intelligence to tackle challenging problems in aerospace engineering. NSF, AFOSR, NASA, ONR, DOD SBIR, and multiple Rutgers strategic funds have funded our research. The group's current projects include:
● Space robotics (robotic software and autonomous capabilities for space missions)
● Autonomous and intelligent observation planning
● Machine Learning-enabled prediction of atmospheric density and its effect on satellite
● Operations Physics-based machine learning to improve orbit predictions and space traffic management
Qualified candidates with degrees in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, automation, space science, or closely related fields are encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to students who have a good background and strong interest in dynamical systems and control, astrodynamics, machine learning, or robotics, are self-motivated to do first-class research, and are committed to getting a Ph.D.
You are encouraged to contact Professor Bai through xiaoli.bai@rutgers.edu directly once ready. Please include your CV, transcripts, and an introduction to your research background and interests. We look forward to hearing from you!
